Hello out there!
Another
Transfer down! Can you believe it's already been 6 weeks since me and
Sister Badham came to Foxboro? This was the fastest transfer of my
mission for sure! Sister Badham and I both emerged from Transfer week
unscathed, and will be together for another 6 weeks. Hooray! This
transfer is going to be a big one for both of us - I reach my year mark
(?!) and Sister Badham hits her hump day! It's kind of sad getting
mission-old :( All of my mission buddies are starting to go home!
Ahhhhhh! Luckily, everyone and their dog goes to BYU, so mission
reunions should be pretty easy.

A Week of Miraculous Hooplah!
CRA-ZY
HOLY
OVERLOAD OF INFORMATION AND EVENTS TO REPORT ON! The past few weeks
have been cra-zy! In the absolute best way possible! Due to the
ridiculous amount of things that have happened, I feel it will be best
to present this email is bullet format:
- Preparation Day Extravaganzas - Oh man. The past couple P-days have been awesome! And busy. Hence the no emailing.
Two weeks ago we had our very own Hingham North Zone TRIWIZARD CUP! It started with some very sportsy games that involved a lot of athletic coordination that I simply do not possess. Plus, one of them was essentially crazy dodge-ball on steroids and I am TERRIFIED of balls being thrown at me! But, for the sake of zone unity, I persevered. Then we ended with a nice Quidditch tournament, which was equal parts hilarious and fun. Sister Badham and I were sorted into Ravenclaw, and unfortunately Gryffindor took the cup. But we somehow ended up with the actual trophy-cup in our car and so we have claimed it as our own and it now functions as our fabulous golden fruit bowl!
Last p-day we were able to attend the TEMPLE, due to Massachusetts celebrating Patriot's day. I don't think this is an actual holiday anywhere else, and I'm pretty sure it's just an excuse for all the Bostonians to not go to work so they can go watch the marathon. After our morning temple session, we hit the streets of Boston and watched the marathon with the rest of the throng, and man was that sweet! We were pretty close to the finish line while we watched, and for some reason watching made me super emotional! I don't know if it's just the amazingness of the runner's dedication, the spirit surrounding last year's marathon bombings, or if I really just hate running that much. Just kidding. I'm pretty sure it's a mix of the first two. ;)
Also while we were in the city, I RODE THE SUBWAY! That's right. Consider me a city slicker. I was pretty thrilled.
- The New Apartment - We moved! And although we STILL haven't been able to unpack all the way yet (we seriously have been crazy busy - but hopefully today we will get it done!), we absolutely love our new place! It's super nice and is actually a 2 bedroom 2 bath, which is pretty unusual for a single companionship missionary apartment. It's kind of crazy that the only time in my life I've ever had a bathroom to myself is on my mission. I must admit, I've really been enjoying myself. We are only going to be there until a 1 bedroom place opens up in the same complex though, which means there is a high likelihood that I will be moving a missionary apartment AGAIN. I guess we are all called to our missions for a reason - apparently one of my purposes here in the MBM is that I'm really good at cleaning empty apartments.
We are 99% sure that our new address is as follows, but if not I will alert you when I discover otherwise.
10 Conners AvenueApartment A308Mansfield, MA 02048
Also, for the record: I have officially been living out of a suitcase since March 22. I. AM. DYING.
- Mission Meetings - We've been privileged to attend a few amazing meetings, the first of which was SISTER'S CONFERENCE! Which is basically when all the sisters in the whole mission get together for a day and we just talk about how awesome it is to be a sister missionary. It's so great. Every time I go to a meeting like that I am overwhelmed with how many gorgeous, talented missionaries I serve with! Everyone out here is SO AMAZING. It seems that everyone sent here is either ridiculously intelligent, a major sports star, a future General Authority, or has the musical ability of Mozart - or a combination of these things. And then there's me. The Apartment Packer. What can I say? We all have our spiritual gifts.
One of my favorite quotes I heard at Sister's conference was this: "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience." So profound. I don't know who said it originally. Probably C.S. Lewis. That's where most profound things of this nature come from. Sister Packard also gave a really beautiful talk on what we learn from serving missions and listed 20+ life lessons that I really want to share but unfortunately I don't have my notes on me. Maybe some other week. Moral of the story: Missions are the. best.
We also had Interviews with President Packard this week. Interviews are basically just an opportunity for us to sit down with one of the most inspired men on the planet and ask him anything you want. Plus, he usually just tells you a lot of really exaggerated compliments that make you feel really good about yourself. It's awesome.
- Exchanges - The best part of being a Sister Training Leader is we get to go on exchanges with all the sisters in our zones. Since I've last emailed, we've been on like 5. We cover a few language speaking sisters, so for a couple days I got to experience something I imagine would be similar to serving in South America. Basically every single person you talk to wants to hear more about the gospel and everyone loves talking about Jesus. Haha, what a life! I greatly appreciated the opportunity to fulfill my dream of being a Portuguese diva for a day in the streets of Brockton. Plus, the sisters we work with are so so amazing. (see previous bullet point.)
So ... that's a little bit of what's been going on
here in the life of Sister Gledhill. Not to mention, Foxboro is on FIRE
and we are teaching some super amazing amazing people and we've found a
lot of potentials the past week that we are stoked about! I think the 4
of us have been handling the transition with out Elder Tait pretty
well, although we still kind of have no idea what's going on. We just
basically run around in circles with our jaws on the ground because of
all the awesomeness that's happening. Always room for improvement,
right?
Okay, well I think I've sufficiently overused every
positive adjective in my vocabulary. BUT I AM JUST SO DARN HAPPY. My
life is so, so blessed right now.
Hope your week is equally fantastic! (I bet it will be better if you share the gospel with someone. Hint hint.)
xoxo,
Sister Gledhill
p.s. I have a
million pictures I want to send home, but we forgot our camera cords.
Maybe we might get a chance to send them later today, or maybe you will
just have to wait till next week to get proof of all the awesomeness.

Gryffindor Takes the Cup
Ahhhh! Absolutely no time to email today - too much Quidditch going on. Haha, I love being a missionary/wizard.
The Little Ducklings Out On Their Own
Oh my goodness! Another week full of the unexpected, which is
pretty much the routine here in the MBM. This week we were stuffed full
of revelation and guidance, starting with MLC (Missionary Leadership
Council) on Wednesday. This meeting involves 6 hours of us learning all
matter of amazingness from President and Sister Packard, which we are
then suppossed to somehow condense into a 2 hour training for Zone
meeting a couple days later. Ai, ai, ai - the pressure! We came up with
a great theme though: you've all heard that April showers bring May
flowers, but this month APRIL SHOWERS BRING THE POWER! Haha, I don't
think anyone else was as impressed with this catch phrase gold, but we
did have a good meeting about how we can become more powerful
missionaries. Sister Badham and I are in the Hingham North Zone (the
mission is divided into 9 or 10 zones), but we went to the Hingham South
Zone meeting because that is where most of the sisters we cover serve.
The Hingham South Zone has all the missionaries serving in the ritzy
part of our mission - Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, etc. So we
drove out to Cape Cod and pretended to live the high life for a few
hours. We were sorely tempted to just skip the meeting and go sit on the
beach for a few hours, but we resisted.
Another revelation stuffing experience was General
Conference, of course! Missionary life is a little busy for me to fully
relish this weekend the way I truly desire as the General Conference
Junky I am, but it is definitely a special experience to hear the Lord's
chosen servants speak as a full time missionary. I feel like for 18
months I get to be in a special "full-time witness" club with them. I
thought it was so powerful when President Boyd K. Packer was bearing his
testimony and simply said, "I know the Lord. I am His witness."
WOH. How blessed are we to have living Prophets and Apostles who have
such a special witness of the Savior? SO BLESSED.
This week we also prepared ourselves for some big
changes here in Foxboro. Sister Badham and I went APARTMENT SHOPPING
(which really just means we go and look at the places the Office Elder
has found for us), and boy are we stoked to move! Which is good, because
the office Elder says we need to be out of our apartment by April 19 so
a senior couple can move in. So hopefully this week we find a place and
start packing!
The other big news is that Elder Tait is getting
emergency transferred at the end of the week! Due to some visa-waiters
leaving the mission, there is going to be a shuffle of a few
companionships and Elder Tait is going to be a Zone Leader in Lynfield.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Need I remind you that he is leaving 4
missionaries who have only been here 1 week behind?! Luckily, we all
totally believe that the Lord directs this mission and that President
Packard is totally inspired in everything he does, but this is going to
be an adventure! I've been praying extra hard that I will somehow
develop a photographic memory to pick up all the information we need
before he leaves. There is just so much good progress going on here that
we don't want anything to slip through the cracks! But God calls the
weak and simple and somehow makes it work. But extra prayers on our
behalf probably wouldn't be a bad thing.
Okay yall, gotta go build some Quidditch posts in preperation for next P-day's activities.
(I'll be sure to send some pics)
Love,
Sister Gledhill
Expectations VS. Reality
Oh my goodness! Life! Being a missionary! My life of being a missionary! Where to begin this week? ...
Let
me start by outlining the expectations I had for Foxboro. Personal and
general experience has proven that when you first open an area, things
are ... slow. And hard. Imagine coming into a totally new ward where
neither you nor your companion know ANYONE, where there are no existing
plans, and you don't know where anyone or anything is located. And then
you have 12 hours everyday to fill with productive, work-hastening
activities. AHHHHHHHHH! Needless to say, I was both excited and a little
aprehensive about coming to Foxboro.
Now let me tell you about the reality of coming to
Foxboro: Sister Badham and I have had 21 appointments in the past 3 days
(not to mention church, district meeting, and an all day family history
conference), and have barely even had time to breath - let alone worry
about how we are going to fill our time! We haven't even had time to
unpack yet! AND WE ARE SO HAPPY!
Q: How did this miracle occur?
A: Elder Tait.
Somehow
the Lord in His infinite mercy has seen fit to bless us with the
ultimate sister-helping Elder in the universe, who has basically taken
it upon himself to schedule our lives for the next little bit until we
get our feet underneath us. Elder Tait has been in Foxboro since August
and knows EVERYTHING, which is good because 4 new missionaries got here
this transfer! The Elders Cooney & Flory are in a trio with Elder
Tait and then there's us. The 4 of us just follow after Elder Tait like
baby ducklings following a mamma duck while he explains everything and
introduces us to the people we need to know. We have been referred to as
the Foxboro Fab Five, but I always refer to us as the "Foxy Five".
(Sassy, huh?) AND HOLY MOLY IT'S SO GREAT!
This ward is amazing, they have already been
SO supportive and there is so much goodness going on here. I feel like
my brain can't even handle all the possibilities that Foxboro has
already presented! All I know is that we are going to be BUSY. And a
busy missionary is a happy missionary! And Sister Badham - man she's
awesome! She's from Bountiful and wants to be a History teacher and is
so sweet & funny and is such a powerful teacher and basically just
rules. I am stoked that we get to be companions and we are already great
friends! A weird phenomena has happened to us though - because we have
been so busy and have had such little time to think, we haven't even had
time to cover all the small-talk-stories that you usually have in the
first few days with your companion. Details like family, friends,
school, hobbies, and pre-mission life in general have yet to be
discussed. We were laughing about it yesterday, because we feel like we
know each other really well, but we don't know anything about each
other! We decided that we know Sister Gledhill and Sister Badham, but we
know nothing about Brooke and Marcy. It's probably because we have both
been on our missions for a while (she's coming up on 8 months) and
we're just so used to being missionaries! It's great. I'm sure we'll get
there eventually!
Another expectation I had that didn't exactly pan out
the way I planned was our apartment. I was expecting a new apartment
with nothing in it, but instead we took over an apartment in an adjacent
ward that a set of sister's just got shot-gunned out of. And boy, is it
MESS-Y! We are only there until they find us an apartment in Foxboro,
so it looks like I will be moving again soon. Maybe it's a good thing
that we haven't had time to unpack ... but I'm sick of living out of my
suitcase! Our plans for today include throwing 90% of the apartment's
contents away, wish us luck! The office elders think we will only be
here 2 or 3 weeks, but my current address is:
7 Independence Way
Apartment 101
Franklin, MA
02038
I am so excited to be here that I'm pratically bouncing in my chair!
Have an amazing week!
xoxo,
The Giddy Sister Gledhill

Nuns, Move, T-texts
Ah! So much to say, so little time, so little attention span today!
We
knew this week was going to be CRAY, but luckily it started off with a
good omen - a nun sighting. Let me take a second to remind you that due
to my obsession with The Sound of Music, nuns are at the top of the list
of things that makes my heart pound with glee - even though I really
have no idea what a nun actually does ... except sing in the hills and
convents of beautiful Austria. So there we were: in Applebee's with the
Elders, celebrating the last weekly planning session of the transfer
with a $25 gift card from a member for the 4 us (we only got
appetizers.) And who but two nuns are sitting RIGHT ACROSS THE AISLE! I
proceeded to stare at them for the next 10 minutes as they finished
their ice-cream sundaes, buttoned their coats, and fixed their habits.
Then as they left, one of them leaned over to us and said, "I am so
happy to see four refined young people here today. Good luck and keep up
the good work." I NEARLY DROPPED DEAD. The nun. She talked to me.
Needless to say, "The hiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllls are
aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!" has been stuck in my head ever since.

To Unpack, or not to Unpack?
Ai, ai, ai! Every week feels like a mini lifetime when I have
to think about what happened each time I email. Big things happened this
week! I mean BIG LIFE CHANGING THINGS! But don't get too excited, as a
missionary our whole lives change very frequently.
Life changing news #1 - Sister Batschi and I are
moving! This Saturday! The apartment that we, the Scituate Sisters,
currently live in is on the far, far, FAR side of the ward boundary in
Connecticut. It is a charming life we lead in our cottage in the woods,
but unfortunately all the work we do is in Rhode Island. So ... we're
moving to Rhode Island! This way we will have to drive like 2 hours less
a day and we will save tons of miles. Well, that's the plan anyways.
So now we have to somehow transport 2 beds, 2 armchairs, 2
desks, 2 rolling chairs, 2 night tables, 1 dresser, and approximately
20 pairs of shoes (mostly mine) across the state with only our Chevy
Cruze and girly muscles. We'll see which members of the Elder's Quorum
truly care about us come Saturday Morning. Also, the new apartment is at
least 3 times the size of our current apartment and we don't really
know what we are going to put in there. I guess we'll go for the
minimalist look.
Life changing news #2 - We went to Return &
Report (a meeting for new missionaries and trainers) on Wednesday, and
it was sooo great. This is the 3rd time I've been, and it's basically
the same every time, but I LOVE any chance I get to hear President and
Sister Packard talk. After the meeting, we were talking to Sister
Packard about how transfers are quickly approaching. We find out THIS
SATURDAY NIGHT who is getting transferred. I've been in Scituate since
October and the direct quote from Sister Packard is "President thinks
your days are numbered." GULP. So I guess we will see if I need to
unpack into our new apartment, or just wait till I leave for the
unknown! But of course there is a chance that I will stay another
glorious 6 weeks. Either way I will be happy! So ... until I find out
where I will be for the next few months, you might want to send any
correspondence or packages to the Mission Office. Hint, hint ;)
In other less life changing news, this week I've had a yucky cold and have steadily been working my way through two tissue
boxes. But the work of the Lord goes on! We even subbed Singing Time in
Primary yesterday, and holy cow! Junior Primary has ENERGY. I led them
in a rousing course of "Hinges" and then they had us doing all kinds of
ridiculous jumping aerobics during "Do as I'm Doing". Add the heavy
breathing to my congestion on top of my already struggling vocal abilities - not pretty. But I don't thing they were scarred too bad. I had fun at least.
After Singing Time, our Primary President taught Sharing
Time about the Resurrection. In response to the question "What happened
after Jesus was in the tomb for 3 days?", one of the sunbeam girls
jumped out of her chair and shouted, "He BLOOMED again!" Isn't that
great? I am so grateful that the Savior did indeed break the bonds of
death and bloom again. One thing I've been learning lots about on my
mission is the ability for us to change through the Atonement. On the
days where we might be a little wilted, or maybe a lot wilted, through
His grace we can bloom again. In my head this is much more symbolic and
beautiful, but I don't know really how to explain it. Maybe it's because
I'm just so darn excited for Spring. Either way, I love Jesus Christ
and feel incredibly lucky to be representing Him right now.
Have a bloomin' good week.
xoxo,
Sister Gledhill
